From Cyclo 1 to Cyclo Lite
Tokyo-based camera operator Yasutomo Kevin Yoshida recently became the first Cyclo Lite owner in Japan. He switched into Cyclo Lite after using the previous-generation Cyclo 1 for almost 3 years! After putting the system into use, he shared his thoughts on what stood out most during his first experiences with our newest stabilized head for Steadicam.
Meet Yasutomo Kevin Yoshida (SOC)
Operating between major production hubs in London and Tokyo, Yasutomo is a professionally trained Steadicam and camera operator. He regularly collaborates with high-profile international productions, including projects for Netflix and Amazon Prime. As a certified member of the Society of Camera Operators (SOC), Kevin works across commercials, music videos, and feature films. His personal arsenal features industry-leading stabilization equipment like ARRI TRINITY 2, Cyclo 1 and now, our Cyclo Lite.
"In my personal opinion, Cyclo LT is masterpiece stabilizer"
“In my personal opinion, Cyclo LT is masterpiece stabilizer: As you can see only two v-mount + GPl arm is only blue canisters x4. Crazy light weight 360 rotation stabilizer equipment.”
Thanks to Cyclo Lite’s lightweight design, the complete rig requires only two V-Mount batteries and a GPI arm mounted on just four blue canisters, resulting in lightweight setup. For Steadicam operators, every kilogram matters, and reducing the overall weight of the rig means less physical strain, longer operating time, and greater freedom of movement throughout the shooting day.
Top Features That Caught Yasutomo’s Attention
While the lightweight design was the first thing that stood out, these features immediately captured his attention during his first tests.
- Unlimited 360° Rotation
- Motion Recording
- Handheld Mode
Flexible Control for Every Shooting Scenario
Using our wireless joystick, Yasutomo successfully controlled the head from over 160 meters! That is well beyond the officially specified range. This opens up new possibilities for collaboration between the camera operator and the Director of Photography, allowing both to work together more efficiently on set.
Cyclo Lite can also be fully controlled using dedicated mobile app. Developed entirely in-house, the app provides quick access to the head’s key functions, allowing operators to configure settings, trigger features, and even control the head’s movement directly from a smartphone.
One System – Multiple Setups
For Yasutomo, another major advantage of Cyclo Lite is its versatility.
From Steadicam to sliders, jibs, dollies, and tripods, the system integrates seamlessly into a wide range of production setups. No matter the shooting style, Cyclo Lite adapts quickly while maintaining the same reliable stabilization performance.
